When I got the February edition of ImagineFX, I’ve immediately fell in love with the subscriber’s cover, by Steve Argyle. The composition was beautiful, and the colors took my breath away!
Then something struck me in the head: how come I admire colorful, dynamic palletes and hardly (if ever at all) use them for my own paintings? I looked at my portfolio and found out I have been using dark and dessaturated palletes more than anything.
So I gave myself a challenge: to give my new portfolio piece a colorful, light and vivid look. On top of that, I wanted my subject to look beautiful, unique and exotic.
I had reference for the pose. The feathered earring and necklace are based on real ones, which I received as a gift from a Brazilian Indian last year.
I can say this is my best work up to this date and it took me many days to achieve it.
More about the process coming soon in my blog:
